All of the timber used by Pölkky’s production facilities are procured by Pölkky Oy. The competent staff ensures the flexible and practical supply of raw materials. Our partnership-oriented approach involves ensuring that the forestry division is also aware of our customers’ demands. The wood acquisition company acquires, fells and transports the raw materials from the forest to the sawmills.
Sustainable forest management
The wood raw material we use in production is sustainably harvested from large commercial forests in the north. Our planned and biodiversity-friendly wood procurement promotes ecologically, economically, socially and culturally sustainable forestry in our operating area.
Our procurement supervisors know the environmental conditions of their own region and already take the requirements of forest nature into account when labeling.
Pölkky is committed to complying with the Finnish forest certification criterion PEFC FI 1002:2024. We use the third-party audited chain of custody certificate FIN-PEFC-COC-1523
Pölkky’s sawmills are licensed to use the PEFC trademark.
Looking to sell timber?
Pölkky Oy purchases a total of about 1 400 000 m³ of pine and spruce timber on an annual basis. Pölkky Oy’s modern technology makes it possible to utilise timber to the last chip.
