The Pfeifer Group bundles its Finnish activities under the Pfeifer brand. This goes hand in hand with the future positioning of Finnish products as the premium product line Pfeifer Nordics. The designation of origin “Premium Timber from the Arctic Circle” makes this visible in international competition.

Building on the established Pfeifer brand, the company is thus opening up additional growth potential in global markets – with products that are specifically based on the particular characteristics of the Northern Finnish raw material base. As of June 1, 2026, Pfeifer Nordics will be managed as an independent segment within the Group. The integration of the former Pölkky sites forms the basis for this. At the same time, Pfeifer is realigning its market approach and closely linking Nordic production capacities with the international sales network.
“By bundling our activities under the Pfeifer brand, we create clarity in the market and strengthen our international position. At the same time, we are laying the foundation to further develop the specific Pfeifer Nordics product segment in a targeted manner,” says Michael Pfeifer, CEO of the Pfeifer Group.
Clear product strategy based on Northern Finnish pine
Within the Group, the Finnish sites act as a reliable raw material hub for high-quality softwood and as a production base for an independent premium segment. The climatic conditions in Northern Finland lead to slow tree growth. This results in narrow annual rings, high raw density and stable material properties.
On this basis, the Pfeifer Nordics product line develops a distinctive range of sawn timber, planed timber and glued laminated timber. Around 70 percent of the processed roundwood is pine, complemented by around 30 percent spruce.
International markets in focus
“The Nordic raw material base expands the Pfeifer Group’s portfolio with particularly high-quality grades. These are primarily used where uniform structure, high strength and processing quality are decisive,” says Leonhard Scherer, responsible for Finland sales within the Pfeifer Group. Scherer sees the stable international demand for the special qualities of Nordic pine as secured in the long term: “Pfeifer Nordics bundles these increasingly demanded strengths under one brand, which we bring to the market in a targeted way via our sales network.” With the designation of origin “Premium Timber from the Arctic Circle”, the Finland segment of the Group gains another strong positioning anchor.

Sales office in Helsinki
At the same time, the existing sales organization will be integrated into the international sales structure of Pfeifer Timber GmbH. Pfeifer Timber GmbH has been responsible for the global sales of the Pfeifer Group in 90 countries for years and bundles the Group’s international market activities.
In this context, Pfeifer is opening its own sales office in Helsinki, thereby strengthening the connection of the Nordic sites to the global sales network. Traditional sales markets for the production sites in Finland include, among others, the United Kingdom and Japan. “The combination of a secured raw material base, industrial processing and international marketing creates the basis for further growth,” says Pfeifer CEO Michael Pfeifer.
Finnish sites as the backbone of production and raw material supply
The past years have been characterized by extensive investments in the Finnish Pfeifer sites. The mills in Kajaani, Kuusamo, Taivalkoski, Oulu and Kitka now play a central role in the Group’s industrial network. They secure processing capacities and make a significant contribution to the long-term raw material supply of the Pfeifer Group.
“Our Northern Finnish sites have exceptional expertise, their raw material base is unique. The unified presence under the Pfeifer brand strengthens our position in the international market. This step gives our teams in Finland a clear, forward-looking perspective,” says Alexander Kainer, CEO of Pfeifer Nordics Oy.
